Gyaboland and its people became blessed as early as in 1888, when they received a group of Methodist Missionaries. The Missionaries introduced Christianity through evangelism and they established a Christian mission school under the nomenclature, Yudo Hill Grammar Institute. The Christian and educational enterprises of the missionaries helped to enlighten and transform the Gyabo people and made them to abandoned the worship of idols and their traditional religion.
It attracted students from all over Liberia. During the Missionary era, Garraway was an outstanding station in the history of Liberia. It became a center of Christianity, education, trade and commence.
Garraway attracted people from all walks of life both locally and internationally for holidays, weddings, honeymoons, sporting and recreational activities.
